Going to get back to the trail

I hope to get back to the trail soon.

Four Years?

I guess it's been four years since my last post. Just had triple bypass surgery 4 weeks ago and really need to get on the bike and get to ridding. I'll be starting cardiac therapy Tuesday, and hope to be riding within a week or so. I'll try to get back to posting updates, conditions and photos from "The Chief" like I had previously.

Weaver Park To Hwy 204

Rode from Weaver Park to Hwy 204 in Jacksonville yesterday. That part of the trail is in excellent shape. Just started riding again, so I'll probably be doing short rides for awhile (or longer). 12.25 miles and my average speed was so awful I won't post it here. This is a good example of why not to go 6 months or longer without riding. Also, my rear end feels like this was the first time I'd ever ridden. I've got some work to do. My bike is in the shop, so it may be 3 or 4 days before I get to ride again.

Back On The Trail

After a long hiatus, I'll be back riding again this summer. Some health problems and pure laziness have kept me off the bike for awhile, but I fully intend to be back full force this spring. I'll post everything relevant to the trail that I learn about.

I rode for the first time in a couple of months today. The Chief was mostly clear except for lots of pine straw in the Weaver area. It wasn't a problem, but they apparently haven't been keeping their section blown off since the weather has gotten colder.

Here is a marker on the Silver Comet Trail. At the very bottom it tells the miles, kilometers, and elevation. Pretty cool markers.

Here's a look at the mile markers in Cleburne County. They still have the plastic wrapped around them. It looks like there will be a marker every 1/2 mile. They're not all up yet, but there are temporary markers where they are to be located. Excellent!
